Show to watch out for: Gotham shows the dark history behind the notorious city

Move over, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., another comic book-based tv show is here to shake up the competition.

Fox’s Gotham has been under our radar for quite sometime already but it was not until we’ve watched the newly-released trailer did we become fully convinced that it may be actually be something to watch out for.

The trailer sets off some darkly noir vibes set in the infamous city that’s arguably the most notorious in all of comic universe.

The show narrates the story of the infamous Gotham City before caped vigilantes and havoc-wreaking scoundrels walked on its dark alleys. At the center of the story is rookie detective James Gordon, played by Benjamin McKenzie, who makes a major TV comeback here after “The O.C.”, as he deals with crimes and other mayhem that hound the city.

Joining McKenzie in the cast are Jada Pinkett Smith, Sean Pertwee, Erin Richards and Donal Logue.

The trailer suggests that we will also meet Bruce Wayne, Selina Kyle and Oswald Cobblepot before they became full-fledged superheroes and villains.

Will it give Smallville a run for its money? We can’t wait to find out.
